The 2021 legislative session was unlike any other. Due to COVID, the Maryland General Assembly met virtually, and relied on livestreams and Zoom hearings to provide public access. While this made advocacy difficult in many ways, it also brought transparency and accessibility to the general public. Floor sessions, hearings, and committee voting sessions were livestreamed and recorded, allowing people to participate and observe the entire session. Individuals and advocates from all over the state were been able to testify on legislation virtually, eliminating the requirement to appear in Annapolis in person.
Strong Future Maryland worked hard this session to advocate for bold, progressive change, working with legislators and alongside other organizations and advocates. See where bills landed with our updated ‘Bill Tracker’ and ‘Legislative Accomplishments & Recap’ page.
