Jenny Egan is Chief Attorney in the Maryland Office of the Public Defender – Baltimore
Juvenile Division, where for the past three years Jenny led an office of 25 attorneys, core staff, social workers, and interns who have successfully decreased Md.’s juvenile youth prison population by 66% and youth jail population by 50%. Jenny also spent six years as an Assistant Public Defender in the Juvenile Division.
Jenny is Co-Founder of Baltimore Action Legal Team, a community-lawyering collective that provides legal support to local activists with the Movement for Black lives as they exercise their civil liberties protesting against police violence and injustices rooted in structural racism and economic inequality. Jenny was a fellow with the Kaiser Permanente Baltimore Institute for Equitable Leadership and a Margaret Fund Fellow with National Women’s Law Center. Jenny is also winner of the 2020 National Juvenile Defender’s Robert E. Shepard Award for Excellence.
